My Top 5 Power Foods

“We’re more about making wealth for the few at the expense of making health for the many.” ~ T. Colin Campbell

1 – CULTURED VEGGIES

These are extremely beneficial to your gut flora, which is where your immune system is built. They are easy to digest and are LOADED with nutrients and enzymes. If I could recommend one thing to add to your diet in as much excess as you’d like, it would be cultured (or fermented-same thing) veggies. My favorite is the green mix! I have yet to find a brand better than Healing Movement. I cannot get enough of these. I eat them with every meal or by itself in a bowl with nuts, olives, whatever toppings I can find. So tasty!

2 – AVOCADOS

Avocados provide 20 essential nutrients including fiber, potassium, Vit E, Vit C, Vit K, b-vitamins & folic acid. On top of all of the amazing, pure, whole nutrients, avocados have wonderful fats. Our body NEEDS healthy fats and most of us are starving ourselves of them. These fats enable the body to absorb nutrients and without fats (another great example is coconut oil) over time our body would have serious trouble functioning!

3 – GARLIC

It is said that ‘A bulb of garlic a day keeps diseases away.’ Garlic has many different benefits but the biggest for me personally is its ability to act as a natural antibiotic and fight infection. I just did a liver cleanse and garlic was a large portion of my morning smoothie. VERY healing.

4 – QUINOA

Such an amazing seed (yes, it is a seed, relative of the Spinach seed). An interesting fact: when quinoa grows, if it doesn’t have enough water it WAITS until it gets the water to continue growing. It just stops growing, and waits, it doesn’t die. That is amazing. What a resilient little seed. And of course you are what you eat.

Quinoa is one of the most complete foods in nature because it is easy to digest, gluten-free, provides amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients.

It is a complete protein, which means it contains all of the amino acids necessary for our nutritional needs. Complete proteins are rare in the plant world – making it a wonderful choice for anyone looking for a healthier protein source.

5 – KALE
Promotes regular digestion, prevents constipation, lowers blood sugar and curbs overeating. Vitakin K, A & C and calcium! Loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, the two work together to prevent and even combat cancer. High in fiber and a wonderful cardiovascular & detox supporter.

FAST FACT: My top 5 foods are cultured vegetables, avocados, garlic, quinoa, and kale! Some that came close to the list were lemons, coconut oil, reishi (a medicinal mushroom).

ACTION: Increase your intake of one of these amazing foods. Along with the powerful nutrients, immune support & dextoxifiers, these foods will stabalize your blood-sugar and therefore your mood! Try it out and pay attention to how you feel and please let me know how it goes for you below!
