90 Year Old Words of Wisdom

I recently went to visit my 90-year-old Grandma & Grandpa Bartlett. I find it fascinating that my Grandma speaks Italian, and my Grandma on my dad’s side spoke French. We are also direct descendants of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Josiah Bartlett! There is so much history behind what makes you who you are, not only learned from family still alive but passed down genetically, spiritually, energetically, whether you consciously know it or not. 

I decided to ask my grandma how she and my grandfather stay so healthy. They have been married 60 years and are still living by themselves, even babysitting their great grand daughter once a week – truly unbelievable health.

Enjoy 90 years of healthy wisdom tips below:

  • Her mom & dad taught her how to eat everything fresh by example
  • Everything they ate as children was from the land & garden
  • They raised & killed their own chickens
  • Made their own bread 2x a week
  • Never had junk food – she said they barely even had any junk food available to buy at that time
  • Popcorn was their only snack; it was their ‘junk food’. And the quality back then was most likely 10 times better (not GMO corn).
  • Homemade bone broth.
  • Homemade noodles.
  • Rarely went out to eat.
  • EVERYONE had gardens. Sneak peek at my garden –>
  • When they wanted something sweet would get carrots! Most of us don’t even realize carrots ARE sweet.
  • They had plum trees & cherry trees in their back yard.
  • They picked all sorts of berries and made their own jams.
  • I asked if she drank coffee and she said later in life, earlier in life she drank green tea.
  • All they did was walk (didn’t have the money for a car or the bus) and she actually didn’t get her license until she was 50! She tells me she sees parents drive their kids down 1 block to the bus stop (and made a bit of a repulsed face along with it!) She’s a cutie-patootie.

FAST FACT: Key words here – Homemade. Gardens. Backyard. Taking responsibility of the animals you are eating by not only raising them but killing them yourself. The quality and energy put into the food is COMPLETELY different from what we put into our bodies now.

ACTION: Try living like your grandparents did. Make something homemade. Grow something in your backyard. Walk somewhere. Don’t use your internet or watch TV for a day. Let me know how it goes for you and what you tried!
