A Hidden Key to Weight Loss.

toxins

Toxic chemicals are found in the air we breathe, the water we drink, aluminum in our deodorant, on our food as pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, in our perfumes, beauty products, even the clothes that we wear. Quite the line-up. And quite the job on our organs to cleanse it all out. We’ve developed over 80,000 new chemicals in the past 100 years or so that we are dumping into and onto our bodies.

When you’ve done everything to lose weight and the pounds won’t come off, it’s time to look at your toxic load. Here’s why:

As a protective measure our bodies will store toxins in our fat and bones. One of the most fatty substances in our body is our brain, and yes, it will store it there as well. Can we say brain fog? Or worse, Alzheimer’s, which is heavily associated with too much aluminum in the brain.

When toxins are stored in excess body fat, despite all the work to lose that fat, our bodies will hold onto it so that the toxin isn’t released into the body to float around and cause harm. Detox then should really be the first step to weight loss, and the first step to detoxification is to stop retoxing over and over again. To change what you are breathing, drinking, eating, and putting on your body, one small step at a time.

These past two weeks in Australia I listened to Wayne Dyer speak in Melbourne and Sydney. What an experience it was to see Australia and to hear such powerful Hay House speakers all in one room, including my amazing husband and EFT expert Nick Ortner. Wayne said many things that resonated with me, but the most powerful was this:

”I haven’t had alcohol in my body in 25 years. I didn’t do that by thinking big. If you want to do something big, think small. Every day I would tell myself, I just won’t drink today.”

This is what I base my practice on. Think small. Think today. What one thing can you do? What one thing can you change? Then one more thing next week or next month. Before you know if you will have decreased your toxic load immensely. Your energy will be freed up to play with your kids, go for a run, work in the garden, or do whatever it is you love to do, because your energy won’t be depleted trying to clean out these toxins.

Here are some quick, easy ideas on how to get started:

 Water.

Use a glass bottle instead of plastic. Some call plastic water bottles ‘estrogen water’ because the BPA that comes from the plastic mimics estrogen in our body. Not good. Use a water filter. My favorites are from Dr. Mercola. Unfortunately Brita does not count and is really just changing the flavor of the water and not cleaning it of chemicals.

 Air.

If you live in a city you may want to consider an air purifier in your home. If you live outside of a city open those windows and breathe fresh air. Essential oil is a cheap and easy way to get a nice cleansing breath. Simply rub a drop on your hands and inhale. My favorites are lavender and eucalyptus.

 Beauty Products.

I could write on beauty products for hours. Here are my favorite brands to look out for:

Dr. Bronner’s is amazing and can be used for just about anything. This is sold at most health food stores.

Molly’s Suds is fantastically clean source for laundry detergent, dryer products and even pets.

Annmarie Gianni skin care. From face wash to body wash, moisturizers, oils, anti-aging, eye-creams, sunscreen, they have it all. The reason I am so passionate about Annmarie skin care line is because the results are the best I’ve ever seen, but even more importantly, it’s the CLEANEST brand I’ve ever seen. Her products have expiration dates on them. You could literally eat them if you wanted to (though I don’t advise it) 😉

Fast Fact: We’ve developed over 80,000 new chemicals in the past 100 years, many which have not yet been tested to see if they are harmful. Toxic chemicals interfere with our gut, brain, hormonal systems and ability to safely release weight.

Action: Start with just one step to de-toxify your body. A new body lotion? Cheap homemade counter spray? A high quality water filter? Pasture raised meat instead of conventional? Step by step you will see and feel the difference.
