3 Tips for Glowing Skin

Our skin goes through a lot. In the winter it’s cold and dry and we try our best to keep it moisturized. In the summer first it’s hot and oily, smeared with sunscreen, then too dry after we spend the day trying to stay cool in the water. It’s the largest organ in our body, and it’s time to give it some TLC.

Here are my top 3 tips for glowing, healthy skin, all year round.

(Plus decreased wrinkles and cellulite. Yes, you read that right!)

1  What are you putting on your skin?

Most beauty products (yes, even organic) are not strictly regulated and can put chemical preservatives in them. I know this because the owner of my favorite skincare line, Annmarie Gianni, shared this story when she started her company. Even though Annmarie skincare clearly prides themselves on being pure, wild, beautiful and honest, the formulators asked her what preservatives she wanted, and mentioned that, no, she didn’t have to put it on the label.

She was appalled, and it made her desire to develop a truly clean skincare line even stronger.

A client recently told me that after using Annmarie Gianni she tried a well known brand and she felt like she couldn’t breathe from the toxic chemical smell. She switched back to only using Annmarie and felt like her skin was thanking her.

This is the only skincare line I recommend. It WORKS. These bottles are so pure that they have expiration dates on them, as it should be. You could honestly eat the stuff (but I recommend putting it on your skin instead). 😉

 Are your hormones balanced?

If your hormones are imbalanced, then clean, clear, vibrant skin is very hard to come by. Imbalances of estrogen and progesterone cause fine lines, dry, thinning skin and wrinkles. Imbalances of cortisol are linked to wrinkles, rashes and breakouts. Low Vit D is linked to psoriasis and low thyroid linked to dry, thinning hair and skin.

Read more about how hormones affect your skin here and check out the hormone consultation I offer at the bottom of this page. I recommend which at home hormone test to take, read your results and give you a personalized holistic prescription to balance your body (and skin!).

A client recently wrote me:

“My eyes are starting to swell up with tears looking back on the past 3 short months. I’ve reconnected to my mind & body and I am no longer using my two face medications originally prescribed for acne. Thank you again for all you’ve given me.” – Sara Reese, NY

 Collagen.

I’m sure by now you’ve heard about my love for bone broths.  If wrinkles or cellulite are your concern, make sure you are getting enough collagen. This is also amazing to have in your diet if you’re pregnant. Make sure your collagen is from pasture raised happy cows. Here is my favorite brand that I use in the summer when it’s a bit tougher to get broths in my diet.

Love & brussels sprouts,

Curious to know how you prepare the collagen protein powder. I purchased some and added it to a smoothie but it does not seem to dissolve very well…

      Hi Kathleen,

I buy my protein powder from a pasture raised, high quality source. They made sure to make this one very dissolvable so I would give this brand a try 🙂
